Recently, a number of incidents have led to fans becoming concerned about Cara Delevingne’s well-being. A post on Twitter read: "Does anyone know if Cara Delevingne is okay?? The media pictures I’m seeing of her the last few months are so off."
And it’s not only fans that are worried. According to Page Six, friends are also growing concerned about Delevingne and are desperate for her to check into rehab. They believe she’s struggling with a combination of depression and substance abuse.
Friend and fellow Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie was recently seen leaving Delevingne’s LA home looking visibly distressed. So, what is really going on with Delevingne?
Updated on November 2, 2022: Although no allegations regarding Cara Delevingne's health have been proven or disproved, the star is carrying herself as though nothing is wrong. She hit a star-studded Halloween party over the holiday weekend with a group of girlfriends, dressed to the nines as a clown. It seems as though she was in great spirits and chose to lie low throughout the night.
Cara Delevingne Has Divulged Her Battle With Depression
The ex-model is known to suffer from depression, telling Vogue in 2015 that sometimes she would slam her head against a tree in an effort to knock herself out rather than facing her anxiety and self-hatred.
Speaking to The Edit magazine, she said: “There is just something dark within me I cannot seem to shake.”
Born in London, the Paper Towns star boasts a family tree that is sprinkled with aristocrats; Baronets, and even a Lord Mayor of London feature among the members.
Delevingne’s grandmother was Princess Margaret’s Lady-in-Waiting, and the 30-year-old star has a famous godmother. Joan Collins is one of the sixteen godparents her parents selected for their daughter (they chose so many in case one of them died).
The star’s mother, Pandora, suffers from depression and has bipolar disorder. She has also struggled with substance addiction, and Cara experienced the effects of her mother’s addiction first-hand.
It's not the only struggle that Cara has faced while growing up. The star has Dyspraxia, the symptoms of which include learning disabilities. This made school a challenge for her, and at the age of 17, she followed in her sister Poppy’s footsteps in becoming a model.
She’s been vocal about the pressures of the modeling world and the main reason she quit the profession in 2016.
In a subsequent interview with the BBC, she said: “Of course, I was proud of my accomplishments, but I wasn't genuinely happy."
Her first modeling job was when she was just 10, a shoot for Vogue Italia. Delevingne's later appearances on the runway, walking for designers like Chanel, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, and Fendi, shot her to international fame.
She went on to grace the covers of Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and Elle.
Since turning to acting, the former model has appeared in a number of hits, including Paper Towns, Suicide Squad, and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
Recently, she made waves in the smash hit Only Murders in the Building.
Cara's Erratic Behavior Is Increasingly Concerning
Known for her wild ways, the actor, who celebrated her 30th birthday in August, has recently been involved in a string of worrying incidents. Some of her strange conduct was on show at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards in May.
Considering that she had been invited to attend by Megan Thee Stallion, her behavior around the rapper was incredibly strange. She was seen pulling faces while Megan posed for photos on the red carpet, she also grabbed the train of her friend’s dress, apparently trying to make it float for the photos.
She continued to rain on the singer’s parade at the moment she was announced as Female Rap Artist Of The Year. Delevingne photo-bombed the singer, sticking out her tongue, and acting like a crazed photographer as the singer prepared to go on stage to receive the award.
Although Delevingne later said she was just excited, hence her actions, it later transpired that Megan Thee Stallion had edited the ex-model out of some shots of the evening.
In July, the Tulip Fever actress was spotted looking absolutely distraught in a parking lot. Observers saw her desperately rifling through her things before smoking a pipe and then changing into a pair of boxer briefs in full view of anyone watching.
A week later, Delevingne appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan, where she was seen constantly fidgeting, rubbing her hands, and clenching her fists. There were also noticeable bruises on her legs.
More was to come. September 15 was earmarked for an NYFW event launching the collection from her collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019. Cara Loves Karl features genderless, eco-friendly clothing. However, despite posting details about the event, Delevingne was a no-show.
Snaps of her most recent exploits at the Van Nuys airport in Los Angeles showed her looking disheveled and confused as she was turned away from Jay-Z’s private jet. The British star’s bags had earlier been loaded onto the plane, but 45 minutes later, she disembarked, shoeless and appearing jittery.
Back on the tarmac, Delevingne seemed to be panicked as she spoke on the phone and smoked constantly before leaving the airport.
It's not clear whether she was asked to leave the plane or not.
Her Most Recent Appearance Set Fans At Ease Again
On the 28th of September this year, Delevingne appeared at Paris Fashion Week, looking happy and confident, a far cry from her recent appearances.
Relieved fans and friends are hoping that the recent events have been part of her larger-than-life character rather than personal struggles that mean she's on a downward spiral.
