Avery Singer was just a little girl when fans of The Real Housewives of New York met her during the first season in 2008. Back then, Ramona and Mario Singer's only child, Avery, had braces and was embarrassed by her mom’s revealing wardrobe and wild behavior, as reiterated by ScreenRant.
Now, Avery is a businesswoman who has plenty of opinions on Bravo and how they treated her mother. “Some people wouldn’t date my mom. Some people wouldn’t date me. I wouldn’t get certain jobs,” she revealed on a 2023 podcast, as reported by CheatSheet. “There’s a lot of negative and hate. And I always say if my mom was right here she’d be right next to me plus one-ing [sic]. Being on reality TV is not something that we’re, like, so proud of.”

Avery opened up on her career move on Instagram. “When one door closes, another one opens. I guess I’m officially my own boss," she wrote in a caption of a photo of herself in a light pink suit. "Thank you everyone for all of your support and encouragement. It’s amazing to see in times like this who shows up for you. I am so appreciative.”
She told The Daily Mail that the business was inspired after serving as a maid of honor for her friend's wedding. She and her friend Jolie enjoyed planning a stress-free bachelorette party so much that she decided to start a business doing it for others. “For some people, [planning] is stress and anxiety. But for me, I am obsessed and I love it and I want to make it my full-time thing,” Avery told the outlet.
In an opinionated interview on the podcast Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef, Avery Singer hit out at the other Bravo children who used their parent's fame to boost their own careers. "There are many Bravo kids that ride their mom's coattails that are like a wannabe Kylie Jenner, all duck-faced, posting," she said.
I don't watch Bravo, period. I've never seen a lot of the shows.
Fans were quick to take to Reddit to call out Avery's anti-Bravo comments. “It’s rich that she’s hating on Bravo when she went on [Watch What Happens Live] to shill her “boss babe” Bach party business,” one user wrote.
Another took to Reddit and spilled some gossip about Avery. "This is hilarious. I saw Avery at a ‘business meeting’ in a Chicago coffee shop last month. I was waiting for an Uber so naturally stood close to her table to eavesdrop. She literally talked about her mom and the show the entire time I was standing there. Sounded so insufferable"
Avery Singer Believes RHONY Had A Negative Impact On Her Life
Avery Singer used her appearance on Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef to call out Bravo and The Real Housewives of New York franchise. She claims she struggled professionally due to her connection to reality TV.
She admits she had to take "a backseat from the show," because she worked at Morgan Stanley. “Like most of my finance career, I couldn’t get jobs because of me being associated with the TV show.”
I think that we always talked about there would be a day where this was gonna come. Like we didn’t think that this was gonna be 13 plus years of her life, my life, and we always say doing the show is like a double-edged sword.
- She also blames RHONY for the split between her parents, Ramona and Mario Singer.
- “So many great things about [RHONY], but at the end of the day, it led to, in some ways my parents’ downfall and publicized of all of our family drama,” Avery said on the podcast.
- Us Weekly reports that Ramona and Mario married in 1992 and called it quits after he was unfaithful during the summer of 2013.
- “Being on reality TV is not something that we’re, like, so proud of.”
“There were moments where my dad had more resentment, my mom had more resentment, they weren’t speaking. I’m the middle person, I’m the only child, I’m the middle therapist,” she said about her parents’ break-up. “We have this joke that I kind of parent my parents in a lot of ways, and sometimes it’s like who’s taking care of me?”
Ramona kicked Mario out after 22 years of marriage after numerous cheating scandals. She claimed his behavior with his mistress was "embarrassing" to her and Avery, according to PEOPLE.
Avery Singer Attended BravoCon After Her Mother's Scandal
Avery Singer still attended 2023's BravoCon after her mother, Ramona Singer, was dropped from the event. “I love my mom, and I wish she could be here,” a sentimental Avery told The Messenger, per Page Six, during the Las Vegas convention. “I know she’s so proud of us.”
- Ramona was cut from BravoCon 72 hours before the start of the event.
- First-ever Black RHONY star, Eboni K. Williams, had called out Ramona's attitude.
- She also reportedly made derogatory statements to a Black Bravo crew member.
- According to Vanity Fair, Ramona allegedly used racial slurs in a conversation with a Black crew member.
- Ramona was ultimately fired from RHONY and was one of the reasons the show was rebooted.
I’ve been on Bravo since I was 12. I’m now 28, which is crazy. It’s my first BravoCon, so I’m excited to be here. The support and love is amazing.
During Behind The Velvet Rope appearance, she defended her mother's behavior, blaming the pressure of making 13 seasons of reality TV. "I think that they need to do a case study on, like, filming for three months with women fighting for 13 years, and obviously, you’re gonna lose your mind a little bit because no one wants you to sit at the table and be like kumbaya. They want to see tables flipped, legs thrown, whatever, right? Like that’s what makes good TV,” Avery explained.
Avery told David Yontef that she thinks leaving RHONY was good for Ramona. “She’s definitely the best thus far in the past eight years. We’ve come a really long way, right, and I think it’s important to recognize,” she said. Avery explained that no one knew what they were signing up for when appearing as an original RHONY star.
“And I love my Mom and I’m really happy for her in her next chapter and she deserves to just take a break And she, we didn’t know what we were signing up for and she’s not meant for this big being on TV, understanding TikTok."
