Alabama Luella Barker is forging a name for herself in the entertainment business. The 16-year-old is the daughter of Blink-182 legend Travis Barker and former model Shanna Moakler. She has an older brother named Landon Barker and older half-sister called Atiana Cecilia De La Hoya. Alabama starred on Meet the Barkers with her dad, mom and siblings. The MTV reality series aired for two seasons from 2005 to 2006 with Alabama only appearing in the Season 2.Alabama was born on Christmas Eve 2005 in California and is named after the True Romance character Alabama Whitman. The role was played by Patricia Arquette and is her father's favorite movie. Travis divorced Moakler in 2008 and married reality tv star and businesswoman Kourtney Kardashian in 2022.The teen is also a burgeoning singer and dropped her debut single titled "Our House" in 2017. Alabama Barker's Pretty Little Thing Advert Was Banned
Alabama Barker's commercial with Pretty Little Thing got the brand into hot water after the advert was banned. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) slammed the fast fashion site for portraying a child in a "sexual way".
The advert sees the teen wearing a number of low-cut, hot pink outfits. In one shot the 16-year-old is seen sucking a lollipop. Another photo shows the teen holding a hose pipe whilst wearing a dress and knee-high boots.
The ASA said the advert had "revealed her breasts" noting that another image from the campaign showed Alabama wearing a "tight-fitting short dress whilst sucking a lollipop." Because of this, the ASA branded the advert "socially irresponsible" and "likely to cause harm and offense."
Responding to the backlash, Pretty Little Thing said they had chosen Alabama as the model for their campaign as she reflects their average customer who is typically aged between 16 and 24. The company also claimed they wanted to put forward a message of body confidence to "encourage and empower young women to embrace their bodies and inspire confidence."
The fast fashion brand disagreed that they had portrayed the teen in a sexual way and said they "did not intend" to sexualize Barker. They added that the images were approved by Alabama and her team and are similar photos to those posted on her own social media accounts.
Despite this, the advertising watchdog maintained that the advert had breached its rules. "Given the above, we considered that the ad depicted a person who was under 18 in a sexual way, and we therefore concluded it was irresponsible and breached the code."
Alabama Barker's Father Travis Is Married To Kourtney Kardashian
Alabama has a close relationship with her new step-mom Kourtney Kardashian. Before her dad married The Kardashians star, she praised her with a heartwarming birthday message in April 2022. Posting a sweet snap of her with the mom of three she wrote: “Happy birthday to the best soon to be stepmom I could ask for!”
Alabama is also close with her father Travis. The drummer penned a short and sweet note for Alabama on the occasion of her 16th birthday on Instagram last year. In the photo posted on the social networking platform Instagram, he and his daughter Alabama can be seen twinning in black outfits and posing in front of a big Christmas tree. At the time, Barker wrote, "Happy Birthday I love you so much @alabamaluellabarker."
According to Alabama's mom Shanna, her and her siblings Landon and Atiana spend more time with their father than her. Shanna revealed the reason behind it in an Instagram live session in April 2021. Shanna explained: "Because he lives behind two gates, has a mega-mansion and is cooler than me … LOL, we have shared custody, but our kids are older.”
