Harrison Ford's not a light-hearted or particularly easygoing...
The Indiana Jones star almost always appears overly serious and gruff in just about every interview he does. It's part of his shtick. And it's partly why so many people love him. But one interview he did alongside his Blade Runner 2049 co-star, Ryan Gosling completely shattered his somewhat removed demeanor...
In fact, the interview had him and Ryan in constant laughter.
And for this reason, it's probably one of the best interviews on the internet.
Harrison And Ryan Did Not Get What They Bargained With Alison Hammond
Nowadays, people tend to look back at old interviews and cringe. Whether it's Anne Hathaway being asked inappropriate questions or Megan Fox being asked... inappropriate questions... fans are definitely reevaluating things. But one thing they're not reevaluating is just how freaking funny Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling's 2017 interview with Alison Hammond was.
British talk shows tend to be a great place for hilarious celebrity encounters. Places such as The Graham Norton Show offer a chance for celebrities to mingle and even make one another totally uncomfortable... like when Matthew Perry sat next to a certain Harry Potter star. But Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling had a totally different experience on This Morning while promoting the sequel to Blade Runner.
This is because the interviewer, Alison, clearly just didn't give a s*** about pleasing anyone. She just wanted to have fun... and the result was downright charming and utterly hilarious...
The interview started with a brutally honest answer from Alison when Ryan asked her if she was a fan of the original Blade Runner.
"Never seen it," Alison admitted, cracking herself up.
This immediately caused Ryan to laugh, grabbing Harrison's attention as he was being mic-ed up before the interview officially began.
When the camera officially started rolling, Alison set the movie up by saying, "Bleak, dystopian, an absolute nightmare, to be honest with you, and that's just my interviewing techniques. But let's talk about the movie, Blade Runner 2049."
"Cheer up," Harrison said, clearly enjoying himself. "It's a lovely day in London, let's keep it that way. This is not the introduction we were promised."
As for Ryan, well, he could barely contain his laughter... so he poured himself a drink: "I feel like this is where [the interview] is headed."
The bantered continued after Harrison was describing how he was approached to reprise his role in the Blade Runner sequel.
"Ridley said, 'Would you be interested'. And I said --"
"How much?" Alison joked.
"Show me the money!" Harrison replied before reaching for a glass of whiskey.
Throughout the interview, Alison teased Ryan for the knitted sweater he was wearing, causing him to briefly pretend to walk out on the recording. She also cut them off numerous times, caused copious laughing fits, and then admitted to not even being a drinker despite downing a glass of whiskey in front of them.
It was mayhem. It was glorious. And it was clearly one of the best interviews that Harrison and Ryan have ever done.
Alison Hammond Actually Has Regrets Over The Interview
Alison Hammond received a major career boost after the release of her interview with Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling. Although, it should be restated that she had quite a bit of a following beforehand. Still, this interview became a major internet sensation, amassing almost 14 million views and counting. Still, in an interview with Hello! she claimed that she actually had a regret about how it all went down...
"I didn't make much of an effort with my appearance that day and I can't believe, of all the interviews that I've done in 16 years, that's that the interview that went viral. You just never know do you!"
She also explained that she had a little regret about the moment that really started the interview down its hilarious path... when she told Ryan that she had never seen the original Blade Runner movie.
"I thought, 'I can either lie which will come across really bad or just tell the truth!' My mum always says, you know, be true to yourself in everything you do, so I just told them the truth."
However, due to her truth being not exactly what a movie studio would generally like, Alison was afraid that none of her interview with the A-listers would air. After all, they barely mentioned the movie Ryan and Harrison were on to promote.
Even though Blade Runner 2049 didn't have the box office return the studio wanted, according to Forbes, there's no doubt that this excellent interview helped get some people in movie theater seats. At the very least, the interview made a lot of people like Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Alison Hammond a heck of a lot more.
