When Tim Allen returned to the magical world of The Santa Clauses for the Disney+ series, his 13-year-old daughter Elizabeth Allen Dick joined him. Elizabeth played Sandra, the daughter of Santa and Mrs. Claus. This was a lot of fun for fans to see. And while Allen makes a fortune from Home Improvement reruns, when he talks about his kids, he sounds like any other proud and happy dad.
While Tim Allen talks about his daughter Elizabeth fairly often, not as much is known about his older daughter Katherine Allen who goes by "Kady." She is now in her mid-30s and unlike her actor father, she doesn't seek out a public life. Why is Kady Allen so private?
Why Does Tim Allen's Daughter Katherine Kady Allen Live A Private Life?
While Tim Allen didn't star in Lightyear, fans still love watching him voice Buzz Lightyear in several Toy Story movies. And fans always think of him as Tim Taylor from Home Improvement, a hilarious character who isn't perfect but who is very charming.
Although Tim Allen's daughter Elizabeth Allen Dick has started her acting career, Katherine "Kady" Allen decided to go another route. And while Tim Allen has two daughters, they are different. For a long time now, people have noticed that Kady has chosen privacy over fame. It's interesting to compare Allen's two daughters and the way that they have reacted to his fame. One child is fine with people knowing things about her. And the other one seems to feel the complete opposite way.
According to Hollywood Life, Kady doesn't use social media. And no one is certain of what she does for a living.
Tim Allen was married to Laura Deibel, his first wife, from 1984 to 2003. In 1989, Deibel gave birth to Kady. Tim Allen married Jane Hajduk in 2006 and Hadjuk gave birth to Elizabeth Allen Dick in 2009.
Since Elizabeth was cast in The Santa Clauses, it seems like Kady could have starred in a project alongside her dad if she wanted to. Allen shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he thought it would be cool if Elizabeth was an elf, but the casting directors saw something special in her and thought a bigger role would be better. He made it clear that Elizabeth wasn't handed the role but earned it based on her talent.
Allen told Entertainment Weekly, "I said, 'Whatever you want to do. I want nothing to do with it. I don't want to pitch my daughter for a part in the movie.' But she ended up moving to the high ranks. They loved how she read, loved it so much, because she's playing a 13-year-old girl and she is 13."
According to Popsugar, Tim Allen appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and said that it was amazing acting with Elizabeth. He said, "It was just unbelievable. Everybody was crying."
Since it doesn't appear that Kady Allen has ever been interviewed, no one knows why she doesn't want anyone to know details about her life. She must have decided a while ago that she wouldn't try to become famous and would live a regular life.
Even though fans know more about Elizabeth than Kady because of Elizabeth's role in the Santa Clauses, Elizabeth is pretty private, too. While Tim Allen's family went to the Toy Story 4 premiere, Country Living noted that Allen doesn't usually bring his daughters to Hollywood events. It's more common to see the actor with his wife Jane Hadjuk than with both Elizabeth and Kady.
When Tim Allen celebrated the premiere of The Santa Clauses in 2022, he went to the premiere with Hadjuk and Elizabeth. Kady Allen wasn't there. It's possible that Allen invited her, and she chose not to go. The family definitely seems to be close.
What Has Tim Allen Said About His Daughter Katherine "Kady" Allen?
Tim Allen doesn't talk about Kady Allen as much as Elizabeth Allen Dick, which makes sense since he acted in The Santa Clauses with Elizabeth.
However, the actor has mentioned Kady in some interviews. Allen discussed his children in an interview with The Huffington Post in 2014. When asked about having daughters, he said, "I was around a lot of boys as a kid. My older daughter likes cars a lot because I do, and the young one likes going to my shop and playing with cars. But there's no trade-off like the affection of daughters. They're great. They're just absolutely wonderful."
In 2009, when Allen's daughter Elizabeth was born, Allen's wife Jane Hadjuk said of her husband, “He’s an incredible dad." Allen explained what it was like having another child: "I like it. I like it even better the second time. I’m not so worried as I was the first time." He also called welcoming Elizabeth into the world "a marvelous experience."
In a 2019 interview with Parade, Tim Allen said that he was uncertain that he was spending the kind of time with his wife and daughters that he really wanted to. He mentioned the long hours that he puts into his acting career. While actresses answer inquiries about work/life balance, actors aren't always asked the same types of questions. But when Tim Allen is interviewed, he usually mentions his family.
Allen said, “I don’t have it. I constantly feel like I’m underachieving both. I think I work too much—because I love my work—and I’m not 100 percent sure I engage with my family enough."
Allen continued to Parade, "My wife will disagree, because I’m really a lot different now than I’ve ever been. But I like being by myself too much. I’m still a work in progress.”
It seems that Tim Allen respects his daughter Kady Allen's wish to have privacy. He doesn't address her private life in interviews. And while people are curious about Kady, the actor doesn't share any of her personal information in interviews, either.
