Aubrey Graham may have gotten his start as a high school-age character on Degrassi, but these days, Drake is a global rap sensation and has a massive fan following.
Unfortunately, that also means he has his share of obsessive fans and even a stalker he had to get a restraining order against. Obviously, most of Drake's most passionate fans are women, and plenty of them have suggested that Drake is the father of their babies (if said babies even exist).
The public knows now that Drake did father one child with someone he, reportedly, only connected with briefly. But at the time that Sophie Brussaux's accusation went public, few believed her — largely because tons of other women were tossing around similar accusations at the same time.
Drake And Then-Adult Film Star Sophie Were Never Really 'Together'
When Sophie Brussaux, then labeled as an adult film star before any other descriptors were given, first claimed that Drake was the father of her child, he didn't have much to say. A rep for him, however, did.
Mirror reported that Drake's rep replied publicly to Brussaux's claims by saying, "This woman has a very questionable background. She has admitted to having multiple relationships. We understand she may have problems getting into the United States."
What's more, the rep was quoted as saying, "She's one of many women claiming he got them pregnant." Drake would later rap about how he'd only met Sophie twice by the time news of their son went public.
Since then, he has stepped up, but was, many fans think, understandably reluctant to believe her story without proof.
Many Women Accused Drake Of Fathering Their Babies
The other women that Drake's rep mentioned clearly made things difficult for Sophie Brussaux when she realized she was pregnant after an encounter with Drake.
For example, in 2017, a woman known as Layla Lace, identified as a former stripper, alleged that Drake had not only assaulted her but had also fathered her child.
The case went to court, however, as Drake filed a lawsuit for, among other things, defamation and extortion. Rolling Stone later reported that the case had been settled; and if there was a baby (allegedly, there was not), it wasn't Drake's.
Amid that drama, publications led with headlines like "Yet Another Woman Claims Drake Knocked Her Up" and suggested that Sophie Brussaux had been intimate with another "famous rapper" (later alleged to be A$AP Rocky) around the same time she met Drake.
Clearly, a public trial of Sophie's character took place while Drake sought a paternity test, which the rapper later admitted wasn't a great start to fatherhood.
Drake Waited For A Paternity Test Before Publicly Acknowledging Adonis
Though he's now a doting father to his adorable son, Drake was publicly dragged for his reluctance to acknowledge his son at first.
A fellow rapper hinted at the news in a song, but Drake ordered three different paternity tests before going public with the news that Adonis was indeed his.
Fans received the news well, overall, but it does seem that Drake was embarrassed by the revelation. After all, Sophie was an adult film star at the time, though she now seems to make a living as an artist while raising her little boy.
At age four, Adonis was already creating his own artistic masterpieces alongside his mom. He's also appeared on stage with his dad.
It does seem that despite a rough start, Drake and his baby's mother finally found a place of mutual respect and effective co-parenting.
And, so far, Drake hasn't welcomed any other children into the world.
