Even many years after 'Seinfeld' went off the air, fans still recall why they loved the series. Viewers flock to the internet to share their thoughts on the throwback sitcom, and often, discussion turns to favorite episodes or guest stars.
But in one case, fans started picking apart their least favorite episodes, and surprisingly, most viewers tended to agree that one specific episode was the absolute worst.
'The Doll' Sets Up Fans' Least Favorite Episode
It turns out that 'Seinfeld' fans have a least-favorite guest star, and it's not really a shocker. Fans are critical of Kathy Griffin and didn't love her on the show. But it wasn't her first appearance that they consider the absolute worst episode ever.
In Kathy's first guest role on 'Seinfeld,' she plays a former roommate of George's wife, Susan. Her bit on that episode was inconveniencing Jerry to the point where he sought revenge in the form of "Sally" having to cart a case of barbecue sauce on an airplane for him.
That episode wasn't nearly as hated as the next one Kathy appeared on, though. In between those episodes, a real-life event annoyed fans even more, setting up Kathy's next appearance for viewer disappointment.
After Appearing On 'Seinfeld,' Kathy Did A Bit About Jerry
In an interesting twist, after episode 127, Kathy Griffin went off doing her own thing. Not long after she appeared on 'Seinfeld,' she performed a comedy routine in which she claimed Jerry Seinfeld was rude to her while they worked together.
It should be noted that various "insiders" said that Kathy was kind of annoying on set, and that rather than take a backseat to the main cast, she pushed her way into their group.
Anyway, Jerry wasn't offended by Kathy's jokes -- instead, he invited her back for another episode inspired by those events.
Fans Downright Hated 'The Cartoon'
When Kathy Griffin came back for episode 169, fans were not thrilled. In fact, most commenters agreed that the episode "grates on [their] nerves," because Kathy Griffin is "insufferable." Another commenter confessed that they "have to mentally be in a very good place to tolerate Kathy Griffin."
Rather than seeing Jerry's inviting her back as humorous, fans dumped on Kathy because of the way, in the show's storyline, she becomes famous by dissing Seinfeld. And one admitted that they already disliked Kathy beforehand, but seeing her on the show "in an intentionally annoying role" just intensified their disdain for her.
Not everyone on 'Seinfeld' enjoyed working with their guest stars, either, but Kathy Griffin didn't exactly top the list of most-hated. In general, of course, people don't seem to like her, though they may have more sympathy for the comedian now that she's battling a cancer diagnosis.
