Summary

  • Yolanda Hadid and her children have spent a significant amount of money on treatment for Lyme Disease.
  • Yolanda's treatment extended beyond antibiotics, including unconventional methods like magic mushrooms and colonics.
  • Yolanda's Lyme disease battle has spanned over a decade.

While Yolanda Hadid is famous for her marriage to David Foster and her appearance in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she is also one of the most famous people who have suffered from Lyme Disease. She has been vulnerable and shared a lot of her journey, which of course means that people have opinions about it. For instance, David Foster's kids have criticized Yolanda and the decisions that she has made surrounding her treatment.

Yolanda isn't the only person in her family who has suffered from this illness, though. According to People, Yolanda and two of her children, Bella and Anwar Hadid, received Lyme disease diagnoses in 2012. Dr. Raphael Kellman said "it's not uncommon" and added that they all got sick "because they share the same environment." Since Yolanda Hadid and two of her kids have Lyme disease, they must have dipped into their bank accounts quite a bit for various treatments over the years.

How Much Money Did Yolanda Hadid And Children Bella Hadid And Anwar Hadid Spend On Treatment For Lyme Disease?

As The Cleveland Clinic noted, the typical Lyme disease treatment involves taking antibiotics such as amoxicillin or doxycycline. According to The New York Post, Yolanda Hadid wrote about Lyme disease in her memoir "Believe Me," which was published in 2017. She detailed the various ways that she tried to get better, and it went beyond antibiotics.

As The New York Post explained, Yolanda took magic mushrooms on a trip to Bali and colonics several times a week.

The New York Post calculated that it's possible that Hadid paid over $150,000 for treatment. Yolanda told The New York Post:

“I never kept a tally and I didn’t count it, but I can tell you that it’s a lot. People spend their life savings on finding a cure, and there is no cure.”

Yolanda Hadid's net worth rank is impressive, especially since all three of her kids are successful models.

At the very least, Yolanda saved money on plane rides while she was married to David Foster since he might have a private plane. In 2021, E! News reported on his current wife Katharine McPhee posting a family vacation picture that seemed to include a private plane. Even if David doesn't have his own, he likely has access to one.

In 2019, Yolanda Hadid had surgery, which would add to the overall cost of her Lyme disease treatment. According to People, Yolanda had TVAM: Transvascular Autonomic Modulation. While there is no information about how expensive this surgery is, it's possible to assume that it costs at least tens of thousands of dollars given how pricey surgeries are.

What Is TVAM?

  • "experimental procedure" (via Medscape.com)
  • a catheter and balloon are put into someone's jugular vein (via People)

Since Yolanda shared an Instagram picture in a hospital bed, she could have had a pricey hospital stay. She posted a plane photo and mentioned working with Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, who is the Sophia Health Institute lead clinician. She might have gotten surgery at Woodinville, Washington, where that clinic is located. If she didn't fly private, she would have had to pay for flights there and back.

In August 2023, Bella Hadid posted about getting IV drips on her Instagram account. According to Today, when people have Lyme disease, they often get antibiotics this way. According to The Washington Post, an IV drip would set someone back $5,000 if they received IV drips for three weeks back in 1993. That cost has only gone up. According to a post on Lymedisease.org, the price for one week of IV drips in 2011 was $3,000.

In her same August 2023 Instagram post, Bella shared that she was "finally" better after 15 years. While Bella has been open about having Lyme disease, she is a famous model who is in the public eye. Her brother Anwar lives more privately and doesn't seem to have said anything about his struggle with the disease.

Does Yolanda Hadid Still Have Lyme Disease?

Yolanda Hadid not only spent a fortune on her Lyme disease journey but also struggled a lot emotionally, as she has explained over the years. After feeling better in 2021, she had a relapse in 2022.

Yolanda's 2022 post seems to be the last time that she commented on her Lyme disease status. It's possible that she is better now or that she is still dealing with symptoms and undergoing treatment, but she hasn't explained that as of the time of this writing.

However, as Yolanda Hadid told Vogue in 2021, she doesn't expect to ever be completely rid of Lyme disease. Yolanda said:

“I’m doing really well at the moment, knock on wood! As you know, there is no known cure for chronic Lyme disease, so being in remission is a blessing I cherish every day."
